Here’s a day-brightener: Omaha’s Lifegate Church hired as a pastor a man who used to be on the Iowa sex offender registry. [The pastor] didn’t serve any jail time and his name has been removed from Iowa’s sex offender registry after 10 years.
In a news release, Lifegate Church said, “In considering Mike and Sharla for our Lifegate team, we fully informed ourselves through an exhaustive research, interview, prayer and consulting process that lasted several months.” Full Article

The place the source was taken from was a news radio station. Here is the beginning of their story:

Even after being taken off the registry, the “news” has to be reported to get the pitchforks and torches crowd animated.
Yes, it makes one wonder what is the point of time limited registration if it follows one for the rest of one’s life. Just like the MiLB Announcer a few weeks back.

It also makes one wonder what kind of country goes to these lengths to ruin people’s lives in the name of protecting children (let’s keep in mind that the announcer had engaged in inappropriate speech and the pastor had a relationship with a 17(!) year old) while unapologetically killing and maiming tens of thousands of children all over the world and then having the audacity to call the dead and crippled “collateral damage”. All, presumably, in an effort to protect ‘our’ way of life and protect ‘our’ children from evil people like the two mentioned above.
A final thought on the pastor in this story. Sure sounds like is a big believer in ‘do as I say and not do as I do”.
A quick google search comes up with the good reverend feeling (pre-conviction) compelled to dictate to adults what they should and should not look at, based on his moral compass. One wonders if he is still on his moral high horse post-conviction.

Also before his conviction he was chosen by then President GW Bush as an examplary citizen in support of Bush tax policy. – “Mike Hintz, a First Assembly of God youth pastor, said he supports Mr. Bush’s values. Hintz specifically mentioned the “war with our culture that’s going on.””

One cannot help but wonder if this Man of God continues to support these values which manifested themselves in the signing of the Adam Walsh Act shortly after his conviction – by GWB, whose values he explicitly supported. An act that contains language that makes it uncertain that this pastor will ever be free from his label should he ever feel the need to cross state lines (even for vacation) and be subject to the abomination that is SORNA. His offense being a Tier II offense which requires 25 years of registration under the AWA.
Not knowing Iowa expungement laws there is a good chance that, even without current registration, he will be – until the end of his life – considered a child sex offender in states that base their laws on conviction rather than registration status (like Illinois).
Gotta love the ‘preach water but drink wine’ crowd….. Would love to hear his thoughts on these musings.
So dumb. We have a guy who has paid his debt to society, registered as required for 10 years, moved on with his life and no longer required to register. So, who or why is this such a big deal? Total joke of an article.
